Do You Know the Uses of naphthenic base oils

There are various types of petrochemical product which commonly exists and this may include basic products like Base oil Sn500 and advanced products like Naphthenic base oils. Each of them has their own composition, compound formation, properties and characteristics. They have their own boiling points and follow different boiling points. The categorization and differentiation varies according to various properties of the petrochemical product. They have different viscosities, aromatic content as well as many other properties. One among various petrochemical products includes Naphthenic base oils. These are petrochemical product which may be refined from sweet crude oil in the distillates form. Naphthenic base oils are actually a type of base oil that has very low aromatic content. It constituents may include low paraffin wax content as well. Even though it is also a petrochemical product but its characteristics is different in a manner that it can allow low pour point when it is on lighter viscosities. It has a high degree of solvency where heavier viscosities are required.

Such Naphthenic base oils are carefully developed to make a base for other manufacturing process. Naphthenic base oils have different applications are used for different purposes which may include:
  • Naphthenic base oils are used as base fluids for many other products.
  • It is useful in the formulation of many types of industrial lubricants as well.
  • It can be used alone or in blends with other base fluids such as Base oil Sn600 for machinery and automobile manufacturing.
  • It has solvency that rightly matches with the requirements of elastomeric materials and thus is used in seals and gaskets as well. It is also used for improving the seal compatibility.
  • Other than this it has a great importance in many lubricant applications as well which may include hydraulic fluids and gear oils.
  • Naphthenic base oils comes in wide range of viscosities which ranges from very low viscosity For high viscosity products its most suitable application is in industrial gear oils.
Naphthenic base oils are thus used in many sectors and has various types of applications that are applied simultaneously in different segments. Not only the Naphthenic base oils but also other petrochemical products are used widely. There are certain other types of base oil with different use which may also include white oil or White spirt.
